At last week’s European Managed Services Summit, Jonathan Simnett, director of Hampleton Partners presented on the M&A side of the managed services market. Talking to him afterwards, his first point is how this fast-moving market has changed since he was here last year:
Companies in the UK are lagging behind their global counterparts when it comes to artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) implementation, with just one in ten organisations (10%) able to boast mature capabilities – compared to one in six (17%) worldwide.
Only half of UK IT firms plan to increase investment in AI over the next 5 years, compared to over 70% of financial services firms.
New research from Peltarion shows commitment to investment in deep learning is to increase over the next three years - with up to 98% planning to start investing part of R&D budgets in deep learning initiatives.
Data quality and management practices need to improve if e-commerce potential is to be maximised.
Drone delivery service provider Skyports has collaborated with technology communications company Vodafone and digital consultants Deloitte to transport medical supplies and samples for the NHS in Scotland using drones. The live flights will take place later this year and will use mobile connectivity and space-based technology.
