Six Degress Group acquires central London data centre operator

Six Degrees Group (6DG has acquired BIS, an independent data centre operator that provides corporate colocation and private cloud services from Central London. The transaction adds £16m of revenues and significant scale to 6DG’s hosting portfolio. It also develops the Group’s presence in Europe’s largest data centre market, positioning 6DG as one of a small number of colocation providers with both Central London and outside M25 datacentres.

MapR teams with Canonical to deliver Hadoop on Ubuntu

MapR Technologies, Inc. and Canonical, the organization behind the Ubuntu operating system, have announced a partnership to package and make available for download an integrated offering of the MapR M3 Edition for Apache Hadoop with Ubuntu. Canonical and MapR are also working to develop a Juju Charm that can be used by OpenStack and other customers to easily deploy MapR into their environments.
