Dell reduces ‘energy intensity’ of product portfolio

Dell has announced key corporate responsibility achievements with the release of its Fiscal Year 2014 (FY14) Corporate Responsibility Report. The report provides the first progress update on the goals outlined last fall in the company’s 2020 Legacy of Good plan, a strategic roadmap for bringing sustainability and business objectives together, creating social and environmental benefits while enabling better customer outcomes.

Overland Storage has announced a collaboration with BitTorrent, Inc. to embed BitTorrent Sync™ within Overland's award-winning SnapServer DX Network Attached Storage (NAS) product line. Avere Systems has raised an additional $20 million in venture financing, bringing the total amount invested in the company to $72 million. The Series-D funding round was led by Western Digital Capital, with participation from previous investors Lightspeed Venture Partners, Menlo Ventures, Norwest Venture Partners and Tenaya Capital. The funding will be used to accelerate sales, marketing and continued development of the company's hybrid cloud storage solutions.

The integrated infrastructure and platforms market in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) recorded vendor revenue of $541.7 million in the first quarter of 2014 (1Q14), up 57% over the same period one year ago. The market generated nearly 180 petabytes of new storage capacity shipments during the quarter, which was up 90% year over year.
