Violin MemoryTM partners With FujitsuTM

Violin Memory, Inc., provider of memory-based storage systems, and Fujitsu Technology Solutions, a leading European IT infrastructure provider, have partnered to offer three Microsoft SQL data warehouse solutions certified for 20TB, 60TB and 240TB of all-flash memory. This set of certified solutions fundamentally improves the performance and scale for Microsoft SQL based data warehouse solutions.

"SQL Server 2012 is a cloud-ready information platform that helps organizations unlock breakthrough insights. By adhering to the Fast Track architecture, the Violin and Fujitsu data warehouse offering gives customers a verified approach for building large data warehouses on SQL Server that scale to meet even the most demanding business needs," said Mark Jewett, Director, Server and Tools Marketing, Microsoft.

The certified solutions provide customers with performance previously achieved only from in-memory server solutions. With Violin Memory and Fujitsu for Microsoft SQL, businesses can now function under a smaller operating cost, datacenter footprint, and power consumption, enabling them to reduce data imports from hours to minutes, accelerate query times from minutes to seconds, and run more parallel and complex queries at faster speeds, while providing a simple and clean management environment.

"Delivering the right solution to meet individual customer needs is important to Fujitsu. By combining Fujitsu PRIMERGY Server, Fujitsu ETERNUS Storage and Violin Memory all-flash arrays we can offer database acceleration based on industry standards. Compared to other market offerings, we provide customers with access to some of the fastest and affordable solutions for running their SQL environment," said Bernhard Brandwitte, Vice President Storage Business, Fujitsu Technology Solutions.

These data warehouse solutions scale from 20TB (5U) to 240TB (24U) and do not require re-architecting of the data warehouse environment, making the deployments simple and predictable. Customers can preserve most of their infrastructure investments making for a scalable path toward a powerful, transaction-driven data center.

"Partnerships are a key differentiator for Violin Memory and our Microsoft SQL data warehouse solutions with Fujitsu are the latest proof of the value of a memory array architecture built from the ground-up," said Don Basile, CEO, Violin Memory. "Violin continues to provide customers with a proven path to solve their business' data needs through application, database, and compute layer certifications, which simplify IT data centers through consolidation without causing disruption."

Collier County Public Schools, the second largest K-12 school district in the United States, improved the delivery of education technology services for its 45,000 students and 7,000 employees using Violin's Flash Memory Arrays to accelerate the its SQL Server applications, in turn increasing IT efficiency, reducing costs and improving the end-user experience for students and faculty.
