Polystar extends use of Infobright

Polystar, a leading supplier of service assurance, network monitoring and test solutions for the telecom market, has extended their use of Infobright(R) Enterprise Edition (IEE) to power big data analytics for improved customer insight management. Embedded into the Jupiter visualization application suite, which captures billions of records per minute, IEE provides network and mobile operators with real-time data access and investigative analytics for powerful insight into subscriber base behavior. Improved customer insight drives improvements in SLA root cause monitoring, customer support resolution, Marketing Analytics, roaming and product development, thereby reducing churn and boosting revenues.

Polystar initially implemented IEE to deliver reliable, immediate data access for network monitoring. Due to Infobright's ease of use, fast query performance and cost-effective scale, Polystar has been able to easily extend the IEE solution to provide customers with analytics beyond network monitoring, into all aspects of customer insight. For example, marketing departments can now compare subjective survey input on quality of service with actual network measures to determine effective outreach; while customer care agents can perform in-depth analytics to determine why subscribers from a certain geographic area may be changing carriers.

"Thanks to Infobright, data is no longer locked in the engineering department," said Thomas Nilsson, Polystar's chief technology officer. "Infobright enables our mobile operators to get automatic access to their subscriber data in minutes, instead of months of manual effort, which translates into rich customer insight. The ability to quickly and easily slice and dice data, and ask any question without tuning or indexing has been a dream come true to our users."

IEE meets Polystar's upload requirements and delivers fast query response -- within seconds -- with low-touch administration. In addition, IEE's high compression delivers efficient, cost-effective storage on standard servers and enables customers to compare current and past data, up to 180 days in some cases.

"Mobile network operators are tasked with keeping up with unprecedented levels of detail on network and user behavior as the velocity and volume of subscriber data grows exponentially," said Don DeLoach, CEO of Infobright. "Infobright's forward-thinking analytic capabilities address this challenge, helping Polystar customers efficiently analyze data to determine which subscribers are using which service, and when. IEE has once again been proven in action, supporting telecom users' ability to discover actionable business insight."
