Cabinet Office Minister meets with Data City Exchange (dce) at GITEX in Dubai

Cabinet Office Minister and Paymaster General the Rt Hon Francis Maude met with Data City Exchange (dce) at GITEX Technology Week in Dubai, where the modular data centre provider are exhibiting at the five day event.

The British MP earlier addressed the Big Data GITEX conference gathering and discussed digital developments, open data and how the UK is making the most of the information age.

When he later met with the dce team, the Minister, who is responsible for the award winning Government Digital Service, took the opportunity to learn about the company's services and was keen to understand more about the dce business model and scalable on demand, Evo-POD modular data centres.

"We were honoured that Francis Maude chose to spend time meeting with dce at GITEX especially when he was on such a tight schedule. He was particularly interested to understand about our custom, design and build Evo-PODs and how we could scale and upgrade cooling capacity on demand within the same footprint to deliver a future-proof data centre solution. We are 3 days into the 5 day show and are getting a lot of interest from across the MENA region for the Evo-POD" said John Eland, CEO of dce.

dce also explained to the Minister about their model for global Evo-POD availability in 3rd party sites and customer's own sites as well as their own campus sites such as Central Exchange in Birmingham, the new 11MW scalable Evo-POD campus that is now open.

Each Evo-POD™ can be built as scalable and upgradable within the same footprint or as a fixed density as required by the customer. For example a 96 rack Evo-POD™ could be delivered as 400kW initially with the ability to seamlessly scale up to 800kW and 1.2MW, within the same 96 rack footprint allowing for future increased cooling capacity demands.

GITEX is the annual conference and exhibition for the ICT industry and is taking place in Dubai until 24 October.
