Fusion-io and Quanta QCT deliver simplicity at OCP scale

Fusion-io says that its ioScale flash memory products are integrated into Quanta Rackgo X product line. An innovative rack solution inspired by the Open Compute Project (OCP), the Rackgo X and Fusion ioScale deliver the efficient, powerful performance needed to transform innovative ideas into hyperscale opportunity.

“Conventional datacentre hardware cannot keep up with the growing density and large capacity requirements of datacentre operators who are looking for more efficient and simplified hardware design,” said Mike Yang, general manager of Quanta QCT. “Rackgo X with Fusion ioScale solves the challenges of data growth, space constraints, power and cooling, all in an easy-to-manage system that can scale out to support new services and customers.”

Quanta Rackgo X is ideally suited for cloud service providers or large enterprise datacentres that demand the highest level of efficiency. The simple, vanity-free design of Rackgo X eliminates excessive features that do not contribute to overall performance and efficiency.

With a 21-inch rack width, rather than the standard 19-inch width, the Rackgo X provides higher compute density, greater storage capacity, and increased airflow, which improves cooling efficiency. All nodes share centralised power supplies to ensure lower capital costs and high energy efficiency. The Quanta Rackgo X management tool allows datacentre operators to monitor the hardware status through a single point of contact, further simplifying management for IT teams.

“By inspiring more efficient, simplified hardware designs like the Rackgo X server with Fusion ioScale, OCP is a catalyst for innovation,” said Gary Smerdon, Fusion-io Chief Strategy Officer. “Application acceleration is simple with solutions that ship fully integrated from one of the world’s leading original device manufacturers with Fusion ioScale flash. Fusion-io is proud to build bridges across the industry with Quanta QCT to improve the efficiency of IT and help our customers transform their businesses.”

Proven in the world’s largest datacentres, Fusion ioScale is purpose-built ioMemory trusted to scale the businesses of hyperscale innovators across social media, music, online retail, and more. With up to 3.2TB of ultra-low latency ioMemory per PCI Express slot, ioScale maximises server transactional processing to scale web scale and cloud environments without the infrastructure costs, complexity and failure points of SSD and hard disk drive arrays. Quanta QCT has qualified Fusion ioScale for integration into Rackgo X at shipping, and ioScale can also be added to other Quanta QCT’s server products in minutes to accelerate critical applications.
