Schroff Varistar program expansion

Protecting IT equipment from unauthorized access.

Apart from availability, one of the principal tasks of a data center is ensuring the security of the data. An important element of such security is appropriate access protection to sensitive IT equipment. Because of this, Pentair has extended its Schroff Varistar program with a number of new products.

The Schroff Varistar colocation cabinet series has been developed specifically for IT infrastructure and climate-controlled data centers and is available with two, three or four compartments in eight different cabinet dimensions and versions. To ensure access security for the components in the cabinets, the shelf dividers and cable panels of each compartment are strictly separated from one another. Thanks to their design, the shelf dividers can also be used as cable trays. All shelf dividers and cable panels are fixed to the rack at multiple points. The well-designed cable management ensures separation of data and power cables and allows cable entry from above and below and from left and right. Any accessory or cladding components required can be chosen from the standard product portfolio of the Schroff Varistar cabinet series.

New mechatronic locking options are available to ensure access protection and monitoring. Depending on requirements, various MLR handles of the Dirak E-LINE series can be combined. The possibilities here range from decentralized access control using handles with integrated card readers through to networked solutions. In the latter option, multiple locks can be controlled and monitored via centralized software. Master-slave handle combinations can be set individually. A LED display shows access, operating status and alarms. These locking systems are easy to integrate into the doors of the Schroff Varistar cabinet series, thereby offering reliable protection from sabotage or vandalism. They can also be easily linked into existing management systems.
