IBM’s acquisition last year of SoftLayer looks to be paying off for the company. One of the latest companies to turn to IBM for service provision is Novitex Enterprise Solutions, which has signed an estimated $10-million agreement for IBM to provide cloud-based Infrastructure and Security services, based on using Softlayer’s open, scalable and secure infrastructure .

Novitex will be using the service to support its document outsourcing solutions, where it hopes that using SoftLayer, coupled with managed security services, will provide flexibility to grow and manage mission-critical workloads within industries like healthcare and government.

The company’s Integrated Document Life Cycle (IDLC) end-to-end service solutions require a flexible, scalable solution, especially in the light of recent growth and expanding service offerings. It is looking to SoftLayer to help consolidate a distributed set of IT environments in a seamless, singular infrastructure. Novitex is also seeking to ensure data security, privacy and compliance for its Fortune 500 clients in a world of increasing security threats.

This is particularly important for its client base of healthcare companies, financial institutions and government entities, where the highest level of security, privacy and regulatory compliance are important concerns.

Using SoftLayer, Novitex is looking to have a highly available, reliable and secure cloud services environment to meet its future growth plans. Its clients also benefit from high availability with built-in disaster recovery. IBM Security Services not only protects data access, but provides deep layers of application security through analytics and event monitoring.

“By leveraging SoftLayer cloud services, we will provide our clients a state-of-the-art IT infrastructure with applications tailored to meet their most challenging business needs,” said John Visentin, Novitex Executive Chairman and CEO. “Our private cloud will offer a robust, secure foundation for focused growth and digital transformation with a faster time to market to achieve the most cost-effective results for our clients.”

The company is using IBM’s Security and Monitoring solutions to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the most sensitive client data. As a result, clients’ jobs will be completed and service-level agreements will be met regardless of whether there is a natural disaster, a power outage, a system failure, or simple business disruption.

“SoftLayer cloud services coupled with managed security services, provides Novitex with the flexibility to grow and enable its business to quickly and efficiently manage mission-critical workloads within industries like healthcare and government. IBM’s dynamic management services also give Novitex the ability to fine tune its compute needs quickly,” said IBM General Manager of Cloud Services, Jim Comfort. “Consequently, Novitex will be able to optimise the IT environment and take advantage of the latest technology available on the SoftLayer platform that enables our clients to drive transformation for enterprise IT for the cloud era.”
