Golder Associates selects BT Business

BT Business has signed a deal to provide a managed wide area network (WAN) to Golder Associates across its 180 offices globally.

Golder has been providing independent consulting, design and construction services to its clients in eleven sectors, including oil and gas, mining, manufacturing, power, and urban development and infrastructure, for more than half a century.

In order to function as a truly global enterprise, Golder sought to create a single network to ensure a consistent quality of connection across all of its offices, whether in a major city or at a remote site. A managed network helps the company to optimise performance, better track costs, and improve its security profile.

A reliable network is also central to Golder’s objective of providing the most innovative services to its clients and consultants, using the latest technologies, including cloud, mobility, and social media tools.

Central to Golder’s decision to choose BT Business as its preferred network partner was BT’s understanding of the challenges the internal Golder team faced and BT’s perceived passion for helping solve them in the most innovative way.

The Golder selection panel also liked the fact that BT Business was keen to work in partnership with the IT team, rather than just sell its products and its ability to deliver consistent global coverage, whilst meeting cost and service level agreement criteria.

Alison Ramsley, chief technology officer for Golder, said: “In our business, the network is the backbone of much of our communication and collaboration – both internally and especially with our clients. Working in partnership with BT Business will ensure we can provide consistent quality in a cost-effective manner across all of our offices – whether that’s in a city in North America or a site in sub-Saharan Africa. And that is critical, since we often assemble teams from numerous offices on many of our client projects, and our clients need to be in touch with us seamlessly.”

John Dovey, managing director, UK Corporate, BT Business, said: “Golder Associates faced the challenge that many international companies do - how to ensure you have a robust network infrastructure in place to take advantage of the latest technologies, no matter where your offices are. Working closely with the team, we’ve been able to develop exactly what they need - a managed network, based on our global capabilities.”

In addition to the global WAN contract, BT Business is also supplying network optimisation equipment to Golder Associates, as part of the rollout.
