Improving storage and DR at heart of The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health IT strategy

The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) has completed the first phase of rolling out a new server infrastructure to improve the business’s storage efficiency and disaster recovery capability. The new environment will see Icomm install VMWare upgrades and support a virtualised IT environment incorporating a NetApp Storage Area Network (SAN) to improve archiving and automated disaster recovery capabilities. Icomm has also upgraded IOSH’s Citrix hosted environment to maximise desktop and remote access facilities.
The implementation has taken into account future growth plans as well as the need to make efficiencies though investment in IT.

Andy Smith, Information Systems Manager at IOSH, said: “Continuous improvement around mitigation of risks and business continuity is central to us and this latest project future proof’s our server and storage infrastructure whilst cementing the direction of our DR plans.

“Equally, updating our desktop provision enables us to scale end user services in a simple and secure way to accommodate our growth.”

Icomm Technologies’ Ian Callens, said: “The contract has been a fantastic opportunity for us to demonstrate how we can respond creatively with a cost effective approach. IOSH now has a robust, available and future-proofed solution.’’
