Boxing clever with cables

Reelex® is a patented method of winding cable in such a way as to result in a reel-less, self- supporting coil. This unique coil dispenses from the inside-out without snags or twists.

Each Reelex® EcoCore box contains a 305m cable length. The new EcoCore box offers better payout performance than existing Reelex II packages. Cable payout is from the inside of the coil, through the payout tube out through a large payout opening to ensure less troublesome, tangle-free dispensing of the cable without twists. And, because the coil does not rotate during cable payout, there is no inertia and no need for special cable dispensing stands.

The Reelex® EcoCore cartons are assembled in Draka’s state-of-the-art UK production facility. The carton and the cable payout-tube are both made from post-consumer recycled paper fibres, which is 100% compostable while the payout tube is held in place using a plastic locking ring made from recycled materials. And, because the packaging is made of recycled paper, the box can be flattened on site and recycled.

EcoCore allows the Reelex® package to be narrower so boxes can be smaller and use less cardboard, which allows more to be supplied per pallet and per shipment. The box is lighter than reels or spools and is consequently easier to handle on site. Unlike spools which can be rendered unusable if dropped or damaged, the Reelex® coil does not depend on the package to work properly. Thus, the product will still dispense perfectly - even when the packaging is damaged.
