Eaton’s latest Intelligent Power Manager Software strengthens integration with VMware Site Recovery Manager

Eaton has announced the launch of its Intelligent Power Manager™ software version 1.43, which now features even tighter integration with VMWare® vCenter’s Site Recovery Manager (SRM). As a result, the new software allows IT managers to automatically trigger SRM data replication caused by environmental or power alarms. This increases ease of use and reliability of both physical and virtual IT systems, which in turn enhances business continuity.

“Eaton’s latest Intelligent Power Manager software addresses key priorities in the data centre, simplifying power management processes and most importantly, maximising uptime and reliability to protect critical workloads,” said Rory Higgins, product manager, Data Centre Automation, Power Quality, EMEA. “It is as a result of our partnerships with leading vendors of virtualisation platforms that we are able to develop products and services like this specifically to help IT professionals improve their operations and converged infrastructure deployments.”

Eliminating the need to download additional modules for deployment, the new Intelligent Power Manager software is pre-configured to operate with VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager. The software identifies power and environment events immediately, automatically synchronises virtual machines and triggers VMware Site Recovery Manager’s disaster recovery failover and planned migration processes.

Eaton is an Elite-level member of the VMware Technology Alliance Partner program and its Intelligent Power Manager software is certified VMware Ready™ on the VMware® vSphere® 5.5 virtualisation platform. In addition, the software provides integration capabilities to other leading virtualisation platforms including Microsoft Hyper V, Citrix Xen and Red Hat KVM.

Intelligent Power Manager 1.43 software can be downloaded from www.eaton.eu/powerquality. The basic license covers management of up to 10 connected devices and is free of charge. Silver and Gold licenses including the SRM integration module and management of more devices can also be purchased.
