China Telecom expands European presence with TelecityGroup

TelecityGroup customers to enjoy wide connectivity and peering options through expanded global network.

China Telecom has further expanded its network coverage in Europe through a new Point of Presence (PoP) in TelecityGroup’s AMS 5 data centre in Amsterdam. The company will use the extensive connectivity options in the Amsterdam facility – including the presence of the Amsterdam Internet Exchange, AMS-IX, and access TelecityGroup's diverse international customer base - to further extend its services in Europe.

China Telecom is the leading telecommunications provider in China and has the world’s largest fixed-line communications network. With operations and investments throughout Asia Pacific, America and the EMEA region, China Telecom provides a comprehensive range of telecommunications and information services to carriers, corporate and consumer customers around the world. The company already has a European network presence at TelecityGroup facilities in London, Stockholm and Milan.

The expansion into Amsterdam is expected to meet the added connectivity demands in Europe driven by the continued uptake of networking services by enterprise clients, and enable TelecityGroup’s customers to enjoy the widest connectivity and peering options from the facility.

Charlie Cao, Managing Director, China Telecom (Europe) Ltd said, “With our newly added PoP in Amsterdam being a hub of intercontinental links, this strategic collaboration with TelecityGroup will play a pivotal role in offering our Euro-Asia Network solutions and hosting services. This will significantly enhance our data transmission and delivery capabilities. We have always been impressed with TelecityGroup’s connectivity options and their very personal approach to doing business.”

Alexandra Schless, Vice President Western Europe, TelecityGroup comments: “It is clear that Amsterdam is one on Europe’s key digital and technology hubs, and the demand for high quality infrastructure and network services is constantly growing in the region. By securing the presence of premium carriers such as China Telecom in our state-of-the-art Amsterdam facility, we are ensuring our customers have access to the connectivity they require to support their business demands.”
