MapR partners with MongoDB

MapR Technologies, Inc. has announced a partnership with MongoDB, the next-generation database that helps businesses transform their industries by harnessing the power of data. As part of this agreement, MongoDB has certified its Connector for Hadoop with the MapR Distribution.

Certification with the MapR Distribution including Apache Hadoop validates that the MongoDB Connector enables customers to seamlessly leverage an enterprise-grade Hadoop platform for moving operational data and analytics insights between MongoDB and the MapR Distribution. The certification is ideal for driving many Hadoop uses cases including customer analysis, churn prediction, fraud detection, user segmentation, and recommendation engines.

“The MongoDB Connector for Hadoop enables customers to easily move their critical business data between MongoDB and the MapR Distribution,” said Vijay Vijayasankar, vice president of global channels and business development at MongoDB. “Delivering a production-ready Hadoop option to our joint customers is only the beginning of the MongoDB and MapR partnership.”

The MongoDB Connector for Hadoop provides bi-directional access to MongoDB data in a Hadoop environment. Specifically, it provides support for MapReduce via MongoDB input/output formats, classes for loading and storing MongoDB data for Pig and Hive, and classes for reading/writing to the MongoDB backup file format (BSON).

“MapR continues to deliver the broadest set of options to help customers realize the full potential of Hadoop. Our partnership with MongoDB, including their certification of the MongoDB Connector for Hadoop with MapR, is a great expansion to our ecosystem. MongoDB users now have the ability to deploy mission-critical Hadoop applications,” said Jon Posnik, vice president of business development at MapR Technologies.”
