Infinity launches LINX internet peering services

Infinity SDC has partnered with the London Internet Exchange (LINX) to become an official LINX Virtual PoP (VPoP), a data centre with a direct route to a main LINX operated Internet Exchange Point.

The exchange helps distribute and decentralise peering within the UK, empowering ISPs and network operators to keep local traffic in the UK. The partnership, which comes into effect this month, means connections to LINX’s extensive range of peering services will be available across all of Infinity’s data centre locations.
Stuart Sutton, CEO of Infinity SCD, says, “As a result, Infinity customers can benefit from reduced latency, increased resilience, improved transit performance, faster connectivity, additional capacity and redundancy at a lower cost.”

Infinity’s LINX vPoP will offer customers the ability to connect with the additional 520 LINX members across more than 60countries and exchange low cost internet traffic in an effective and economical way, without requiring the equipment at the main LINX PoP.

Ben Hedges, LINX head of marketing and business development, says, “We are delighted Infinity has become a LINX Virtual PoP partner. As well as seeing an array of business benefits, members become part of a vibrant community of ISPs and network operators. The partnership will therefore allow Infinity customers to make new professional contacts and to exchange ideas and expertise with like-minded individuals.”

Andrew Roughan, commercial director at Infinity SDC, says “Providing our customers with access to one of the richest connectivity environments in the UK is a key part of our strategy. Infinity customers now have immediate access to LINX’s extensive range of peering services, which are continuously improving in performance, latency and control. The advent of Infinity’s LINX vPoP significantly strengthens our colocation offering and shows our commitment to creating the new standard in data centre services.”
