Zayo Group lights network to Ireland

Zayo Group Holdings has extended its European long haul network offering. Zayo can now provide customers 1G, 10G and 100G waves to Dublin, Ireland as well as three new cities in the UK including Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol.

The milestone extension will enable Zayo to provide multiple connectivity options from Dublin directly to other parts of the UK. Zayo will also link the Irish city to other key European connectivity hubs such as Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Paris, as well as enable connectivity to its extensive US backbone via diverse trans-Atlantic links. This will significantly extend the reach of the product range including wavelengths, Ethernet and IP.

This expansion into Dublin allows Zayo and its customers access to a growing concentration of data centre operators and content providers with operations in Ireland. Interxion Dublin is the first of these sites to be brought on-net through this expansion, with the opportunity to expand network reach to other facilities. Combined with the ability to now offer services into Manchester, customers will benefit from greater access to these global connectivity hubs for sectors such as media, content, hosting and data centres. This will also help to enable the expansion of the services portfolio into Scotland.

“Continuing to expand and strengthen our European platform has been a key focus for Zayo,” said Alastair Kane, vice-president of Europe. “Expanding our services into Ireland allows us to support customers and connect to a growing content, hosting and data centre market.”

“The ability to provide 100G capability across the network is as important as expanding our reach. Not only do organisations require connectivity to diverse sites around the UK and Ireland, but also higher bandwidth in order to accommodate current and future requirements” he continued. “We will continue to increase access for our customers to Zayo’s high capacity services”.

Customers can use Tranzact, Zayo’s innovative shopping platform, to buy and manage bandwidth services from the UK to Ireland, and across the U.S. and Europe. The Tranzact platform enables customers to access pricing, place orders, and view existing and pending services through an intuitive web application, simplifying the bandwidth shopping experience.
