Cobweb Solutions, one of the largest independent cloud hosting providers in Europe, has today announced the hire of Ash Patel in the new role of director of business transformation.

Cobweb is focused on providing agile technology for businesses across all industries who require flexibility matching their changing business needs. Cobweb provides complete end-to-end communications and business services via the cloud, supplying enterprise benefits at a fraction of the cost of on-premise IT, to more than 6,000 small and medium-sized business customers.

Paul Hannam, CEO and co-founder of Cobweb said: “It’s a cliché to say that I’m delighted (but I really am!) to welcome Ash to Cobweb. Ash joins us as we prepare to show the world a transformation. We will soon be sharing new services with our partners and customers, giving them a brand new way of looking at the cloud.”

Patel has been in the IT industry since he was 16 years old. Beginning as an IT lecturer at Uxbridge College, Patel went on to deliver networks for the RAF and the Commonwealth Games as a Wireless Strategy Architect at Locustworld, deploying wireless cloud infrastructure across sites around the world. Patel joins Cobweb from Insight where he recently led the EMEA Cloud strategy programme.

Patel explained his move, “Joining Cobweb is an exciting challenge for me. I’ll be working with the team transforming ‘core’ Cobweb, as we evolve into an ever-more strategic IT partner for our customers. Our goal is to build mutually beneficial relationships with our partners and customers in order to help each other grow.”

Patel will work with Cobweb’s executive board to further develop the business’ cloud strategy, strengthen the brand in cloud and services and assist in building strategic partnerships with vendors and service partners to continue the work Cobweb has begun to build a diverse portfolio of services and support. Patel had previously set up his own consultancy, helping financially constrained small businesses whose core business revolved around technology create strategies to grow effectively.

“Cobweb enthuses me. It has a great and distinguished heritage in the IT space with a very skilled employee base, delivering elevated technology solutions to customers. Joining the team felt very much like joining a family. Together we’re looking forward to making waves in the industry.”

Cobweb is presenting a series of inspirational talks at an event in association with Level39 on 26th February. The invitation only event will explore the disruptive and liberating power of the Cloud for people seeking a better way of working and living in our new reality of a data-driven, cloud-connected, machine-led world.
