The new contract with Sopra Steria will commence on the 1 November for a period of five years. Sopra Steria will be responsible for the day-to-day IT services and support across the council.

The services will cost £37m over the 5 year term which delivers a saving of around 20 percent on the current contract, whilst delivering improvements in a number of key areas that will benefit Council users and residents.

Portfolio holder for performance, corporate resources and policy development, Councillor Graham Henson said:

Sopra Steria has extensive experience of working with local authorities and a track record of delivering complex projects. This contract represents good value for residents, staff and the young people who will benefit from more apprenticeship places plus a commitment to pay the London Living wage.”

The company has also committed to provide the Council with a number of initiatives that will benefit the local community including apprenticeships, work placements, work tasters, jobs for residents and support for events plus a commitment to pay the London Living wage.
