Talari updates Software Defined WAN (SD-WAN) solution

Talari Networks has released Talari Adaptive Private Networking (APN) 4.3. The latest version of Talari’s SD-WAN solution extends its support for MPLS, making it easy for enterprises to achieve the reliability and cost savings promised by a hybrid WAN.

Support for hybrid WANs is growing as enterprises face a need for more bandwidth driven by the rapid adoption of video communication, cloud applications, big data and a mobile workforce. While this demand can be satisfied less expensively by using public Internet links as the WAN, most enterprises want to keep MPLS active as its QoS and SLAs provide assurance on quality and availability. A hybrid WAN allows growth in bandwidth through public Internet connections while still retaining MPLS for a subset of traffic. This provides capacity and quality and has the side benefit of capping telecom spend as future bandwidth growth can be accommodated by higher capacity broadband links.

Talari’s latest release provides sophisticated queue mapping between application traffic and MPLS queues and seamless aggregation of MPLS and broadband links. This creates a hybrid WAN that can adapt in real-time to application demand, ensuring application quality regardless of the underlying network technology. Talari APN 4.3 also makes configuration of the WAN and the use of MPLS simple and intuitive. This continues Talari’s ongoing commitment to simplify network configuration and to the standard of “configure the network, not the appliance."

“While there is some movement toward all-Internet WANs, most enterprises today are not eager to give up MPLS,” said Talari’s CMO Kevin Gavin. “With Talari, they have a solution that allows for a graceful transition. By abstracting from the underlying network architecture, changes can be accomplished easily and without disruption to the rest of the network. As new offices open or contracts come up for renewal, they can choose whether or not to extend MPLS to those offices. Talari gives them the option to continue with a hybrid WAN model or move to full Internet as the WAN.”
