“I was attracted to the SoftNAS board opportunity due to the impressive leadership position the company has already established in a rapidly expanding market,” said Pedersen. “My vision is to leverage the incredible success SoftNAS created with the public cloud and expand their network to connect more businesses to hybrid and private clouds.”

Brad Pedersen is formerly a Chief Architect and Senior Fellow at Citrix and has more than 35 years of software development experience. Pedersen joined Citrix as its seventh employee and is a founding member of the software design and development team. Spending more than 25 years with Citrix, Pedersen’s impact on Citrix has been significant. He holds 37 issued US patents, including several on the design of the Citrix Independent Computing Architecture (ICA) protocol, which is now called HDX.

Pedersen is also known as one of the original developers of Citrix WinFrame, which eventually became Microsoft Terminal Services and is now called Remote Desktop Services. Citrix took what remained of Pedersen’s initial design, which included the Independent Computing Architecture (ICA) protocol, and created MetaFrame, which has now developed into two market leading enterprise products Citrix XenApp and Citrix XenDesktop.

Considered the father of Citrix’s Independent Computing Architecture (ICA) protocol, Brad has made important contributions to the technology industry. Pedersen is known for his 1994 design and architecture of the ICA protocol, which has the reputation for being the best and most widely used protocol in the world for remote application access.

“Brad is an exceptional technology visionary who will add a unique depth and dimension to SoftNAS," stated Rick Braddy, CEO of SoftNAS. "Everyone associated with SoftNAS is excited to attract the additional mindshare and is already collaborating with laser focus to deliver on our vision."
