Streamwire joins Data Centre Alliance in boost to sustainability agenda

Streamwire has become a Corporate Partner of the Data Centre Alliance (DCA), which supports the company’s key objectives to drive innovation and improve sustainability in the data centre industry.

The DCA is a not-for-profit international industry association which represents the interests of the data centre infrastructure sector by driving awareness of the data centre industry, leading industry research and promoting the development of data centre standards.

Anne Stokes, CEO of Streamwire comments: “All technology companies have a role to play in developing sustainable approaches to IT. The DCA has an important function to bring the data centre industry together and develop a common approach to sustainability and standards, increasing innovation and energy efficiency in the IT estate, and cutting costs to gain greater value for money.”

Streamwire will work with the DCA and contribute to industry research and programmes, particularly in areas concerning the development of alternative energy sources to power data centres.

“There is huge potential in the data centre industry to reduce carbon emissions and prevent further climate change. The challenge we face is that as we make the sharing use and storage of data more efficient, we also create the capacity for its exponential growth. All of us in the industry need to work together to overcome what I think is one of the most important issues that we face as a society.”
