Volta Data Centres seals 8th deal in £500k partnerships won in Q1 2015

Volta Data Centres, developer and operator of central London’s newest purpose-designed, carrier-neutral data centre, has sealed its eighth Managed Service Provider deal of the year with, Ocean Intelligent Communications, to deliver resilient and scalable IT infrastructure to its customers in the City of London. The partnership is ideal for financial and insurance companies in the heart of the City that are looking for cloud based services and infrastructure.

Ocean Intelligent Communications is a Managed Services Provider (MSP) that owns and operates a dedicated carrier agnostic service provider network known as the “OceanCloud”. Ocean works across the entire spectrum of IT services providing its clients with both on site and off site IT infrastructure; with services spanning consultancy, design, implementation and ongoing managed services.

The company had been looking for some time, to find an additional new, central London data centre to complement the existing data centres they work with in order to provide clients with their cloud services, “OceanCloud”, a carrier independent MPLS network, virtual data centre service and infrastructure-as-a-service platform.
Jason Osmond, Group Sales Director, Ocean commented, “We have been looking for a data centre facility that ticks all the right boxes. We were concerned around location, expansion and power capabilities. Most London data centres have been around for some time and it is important for us to get the right long term expansion strategy in place and the capability for the future power draws we may need.”

“Volta has the capability to build out additional space, they’re not going to get to a point where they say they’ve run out of room. In terms of power, we’ll be OK today and in five years’ time. We also wanted a data centre that fitted with our strategic ‘right partnership’ approach and we felt Volta was a great cultural fit.”

Ocean will work with Volta’s Great Sutton Street data centre to offer its customers a flexible approach. Osmond added: “Volta has the right approach to customer services, they care for their clients and do not just offer the shrink-wrapped, off the shelf approach. We work very similarly and we wanted to achieve a long-term relationship with the team at Volta, in order to ensure that we would be working together for the next 20 years or more.”

“Its independent approach to carriers is really important to us. The way we operate the OceanCloud service is carrier agnostic, so any data centre we partner with has to be well lit and not tied to individual network provider or carrier – Volta’s approach to that sits well with our strategic plans.”

The partnership is one of eight that Volta has signed up this year already, including partnerships with EX Networks, Umbee, Elite, Serverchoice and ComfitFS, in deals that come to £500,000.

Jon Arnold, Managing Director, from Volta Data Centres, explains, “We are seeing more companies want to work in partnership with us as cloud becomes a priority for businesses. “We are a pure play colocation provider so when Managed Service Providers are looking for a resilient data centre that is central to London, we can offer a true partnership while the MSP can focus on the independent and scalable benefits of our facility.”

“We look forward to working with Ocean and forming a strategic partnership to offer the best for both our clients, building out internal projects for those businesses who want to relocate their IT infrastructure to a serviced data centre.”
