Insight UK has successfully overhauled Rotork IT infrastructure and helped make significant savings in licensing costs that will support its continued business growth.

A long-term Insight client, Rotork - the market leading valve actuator manufacturer and flow control company - had experienced significant business expansion in recent years, driven organically and by acquisitions. However Rotork’s IT system was in need of an upgrade to support current and future planned development.

Insight designed a solution that pulled together best of breed solutions from multiple vendors, including Cisco, VMware and NetApp. This solution united Rotork’s disparate data sources, resulting in improved performance and productivity across the business. The flexibility of the solution also meant that it integrated with existing legacy systems to ensure it worked seamlessly within the wider IT environment.

“We needed a partner that would be able to advise us on how to best restructure our IT, and then deliver the solutions to do so,” said James Blannin, Global IT Manager, Rotork Plc. “Thanks to its expertise in IT transformation, Insight was able to make a pragmatic and comprehensive assessment of our system and design a solution tailored specifically to our needs. The result has ensured that our IT infrastructure is more robust and flexible enough to support our continued business growth.”

As part of the partnership with Rotork, Insight was also able to proactively recommend an evaluation of its licensing contracts. As an authority on Microsoft Enterprise Agreements, Insight was able to help simplify these and deliver significant cost savings. This success led to Rotork signing a three year retained contract with Insight.

“We understand that most IT departments are lean and simply cannot dedicate the resources that are required in order to keep fully up-to-speed with ever-changing licensing contacts,” said Alex Guillen, Go to Market Marketing Manager, Insight UK. “It’s a complex and costly area of IT. This is why we felt it was important that we worked proactively with Rotork and subsequently helped to reduce costs, freeing up budget and resource Rotork could reinvest in the business.”

“Working with Insight has rejuvenated both our IT infrastructure and licensing contracts,” continued Blannin. “The end result has helped us futureproof our business growth and success. Throughout the entirety of both projects, Insight was not only diligent in its delivery, but acted as a true consultant and partner.”
