Tieto launches next generation archiving service

Helping companies to meet new data protection regulation.

As the data-driven world advances, the amount of information stored and archived has grown dramatically. To address the increased need to easily store, retrieve and also dispose data, while meeting new privacy related regulation (General Data Protection Regulation - GDPR) Tieto is launching a new cloud based archiving solution for its customers in the Nordics - Tieto Archiving as a Service (AaaS).
As companies move from manual paper processes to automated digital processes, the need to keep and retrieve digital materials increases exponentially. In addition, the personnel and customers are increasingly retrieving archived documents as part of digitalized customer service so the archiving systems become much more widely used and interactive.
The abundance of information is making active systems slow and inefficient, causing unnecessary costs and hindering business. Research from the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM) reveals that 70 percent of companies? archived data is ”waste”, without any business value. The “save everything forever” mode does not work any more.

Tieto?s Archiving as a Service (AaaS) is a true cloud based solution for storing, viewing, sharing and managing all the static business information in an effective, secure and compliant way. It enables companies to combine all enterprise archiving needs into one secure, centrally managed and highly versatile service based solution, making it easier to extract and analyse relevant data and convert it to business value, while at the same time sorting out unnecessary data.

- Digitalization is having a huge impact on the role of archiving. Companies need to move to an enterprise archive that will be able to collect large volumes and various types of information from multiple sources, enabling rapid access at any time with any device. Not to mention requirements for data analysis and compliance, says Heikki Veps?l?inen, Lead Solution Manager Archiving, Tieto.
With the General Data Protection Regulation and new privacy related demands coming into effect in 2018, organisations are increasingly keen on finding new archiving solutions to develop their business. Compared to using conventional archives, the new services allow companies to handle data related to specific customers or persons in a more efficient and compliant way.
 - Going forward, archiving services will become all the more smarter, providing totally new ways of working and optimizing the customer experience.  The amount of data to be produced will continue to grow – and the task of handling it in a secure way will not go away. The challenge is to do it so that it not only implies a cost, but also adds real value to business, concludes Heikki Veps?l?inen.
Tieto’s new archiving offering is available for customers across industries in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
