SUSE and Fujitsu are strengthening their strategic alliance to address the need for dynamic, flexible and secure cloud and mission-critical open source solutions in the global market. Both companies are committing development, marketing and sales resources and will initially bring hybrid cloud, next-generation cloud infrastructure and mission-critical solutions to market. As a result of this expanded alliance, customers will have access to a wider variety of enterprise offerings and greater flexibility to migrate on-premise environments including SUSE to open source-based public and private clouds.

In addition, customers will also be able to take advantage of the comprehensive MetaArc portfolio of solutions, services and cutting-edge technologies, including cloud, mobility, IoT, Big Data analytics, and Artificial Intelligence from Fujitsu as well as an ecosystem of partners. With open source cloud technologies at its heart, MetaArc enables customers to digitalise with confidence. MetaArc is steadily rolling out internationally, with plans for availability from Fujitsu data centres around the globe.

“This further-strengthened collaboration with SUSE is a logical extension of our productive relationship for more than a decade and follows our mutual commitment to smoothly and swiftly support customers with open source systems,” said Yoshiya Etou, vice president, Linux Development Division, Platform Software BU, Fujitsu. “Our collaboration now moves beyond a go-to-market solutions strategy to development and open source community activities. We put to use the technology and track record we have cultivated over the years to support customers’ mission-critical systems, utilising the latest open source solutions in both on-premise and cloud.”

Phillip Cockrell, SUSE vice president of Global Alliances, said, “This is a very exciting development for both SUSE and Fujitsu. We have worked together for many years, and what we’re announcing today takes our relationship to a truly strategic and global partnership around mission-critical and hybrid cloud solutions that will solve business issues for our customers.”

Five joint strategic initiatives and three solutions from the Fujitsu-SUSE strategic alliance will be publicly announced as they become available.
