In 2016, CETIAT decided to improve service to its users by offering a larger and more powerful HPC system, including a more complex set of tools. CETIAT wanted to build a proprietary, on-premise solution but with limited in-house experience of HPC systems, the group decided to implement an infrastructure management solution at the same time, to automate and simplify the administration of the HPC environment. At CETIAT, all simulations are carried out on Siemens STARCCm+ software (formerly owned by CD ADAPCO). Siemens was already using Bright Cluster Manager on its own HPC systems, and recommended that CETIAT follow suit. CETIAT contacted transtec, a Bright Computing Premier partner, to carry out a technical and financial comparison of Bright Cluster Manager and other opensource solutions. After a detailed analysis, Bright Cluster Manager was selected as the infrastructure management solution, and transtec was selected as the implementation provider. Bright Cluster Manager was deployed in early 2017 and CETIAT has experienced good results so far. Vahid Mozaffarnia at CETIAT commented; “Bright Cluster Manager installed very quickly and as promised, the solution is really easy to use and makes task administration a lot more straightforward. A key reason for choosing Bright was that it enables non-HPC Linux specialists to easily manage our HPC solution. However, with all the features included in Bright Cluster Manager, we recommend training to get as much benefit as possible from the technology.” John Morelle, EMEA Sales Leader for HPC at transtec, added; “Bright Cluster Manager is extremely ergonomic in its design and there are many features directly integrate into the solution without the need for additional activation. We continue to encourage organizations across France to implement Bright Cluster Manager, as it solves so many problems and provides a tangible return on investment.”
Clemens Engler, Alliances Director at Bright Computing, added; “We are delighted to welcome CETIAT as a Bright customer and continue to support our Premier partner transtec as they grow their footprint across France, Germany, and the UK.”
