1&1 launches 1&1 Container Cluster

1&1 has introduced “1&1 Container Cluster”, a single solution featuring container clusters and the necessary IT resources to allow developers and IT administrators from companies of all sizes to respond to rapid changes in the market quickly, efficiently and with greater flexibility. Based on the industry standard Kubernetes, it allows users to automatically scale, manage and deploy software applications or selected functions.

In line with a DevOps approach, developers aim for a seamless collaboration between development and IT operations in order to provide services. Container technologies facilitate this approach, providing the necessary flexibility to launch products and software updates more quickly and cost effectively. 1&1 Container Cluster addresses this need and provides customers with a container solution in six instance packages that solely include SSD storage. The smallest package M (1vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 50 GB storage) is already available at ?25 per month. Customers need three of these servers or “nodes” to be able to run a working cluster.

“Containers have evolved from a niche topic among developers into a technology used successfully by many established companies” says Eric Tholom?, CEO, 1&1 Internet SE. “We’re providing this technology to customers through our new solution, 1&1 Container Cluster. It enables them to realise cloud-based IT projects in a much more flexible way and gain a competitive advantage.”

Simple administration, powerful features

1&1 Container Cluster is based on the modern and secure 1&1 cloud infrastructure, providing users with a powerful platform for deploying their containers and clusters via the easy to use Cloud Panel. Here, customers can set up, scale and update Kubernetes container clusters just with a few clicks. They have full access to a dedicated cluster, which consists of three servers or “nodes” (with 2GB RAM each) and can be expanded whenever necessary. In addition, customers can use a number of pre-configured use-cases, which they just need to customise to their needs. This includes the integration of DockerHub, allowing customers to access stored Docker images in order to run them in a container.

Customers can choose the locations of the 1&1 Data Centres in the UK, Germany, and the US for their servers freely. Plus, the new offer includes 24/7 expert support via telephone and customers can visit the 1&1 Cloud Community which features a huge variety of help articles and the option to get in touch with other developers directly.
