"Over the past few years, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as Supermicro have become an increasingly important and influential part of the computer and storage vendor ecosystem," said David Dale, Chairman of the SNIA Board of Directors. "We are delighted to welcome Supermicro 's participation in SNIA at a leadership level. We believe it underscores the relevance of SNIA 's agenda to the changing storage industry ecosystem."
Supermicro has been focusing on innovative storage solutions for many years. SNIA is exploring ways of accelerating testing and validation of new technologies and standards for the industry. These efforts will explore how to best support, realize, and drive new innovative storage technologies forward at an accelerated pace, and bring leading Cloud service providers (and Hyperscalers) together with the storage industry in these efforts.
"Supermicro has always been a first-to-market developer of server and storage systems, and we are one of the pioneers in system implementations to support the all-flash NVMe and persistent memory technologies. This system level design and development experience is vital to bringing the continuous enhancements in storage technologies to reality," said Tau Leng, SVP of Technology at Supermicro. "SNIA leads the storage industry worldwide in developing and promoting vendor-neutral architectures, standards and education services. Supermicro now joins other industry leaders of SNIA to advance the technologies and industry development."
Tau Leng, SVP of Technology at Supermicro, will join the SNIA Board of Directors. Leng is a 25-year industry veteran who manages engineering, marketing, product management, and testing teams at Supermicro. He joins an elite group of storage technology leaders to drive the execution of SNIA 's mission by delivering innovative standards, vendor-neutral education, and services that will propel open storage networking solutions into the broader market.
