StorCentric has acquired Violin Systems, a technology leader in software-defined all-flash storage solutions. With an ability to offer market-leading performance on commodity infrastructure, the Violin Systems portfolio of all-flash NVMe SSD-based architecture expands StorCentric's all-flash offerings. Enterprise customers will now be able to address any performance, scale and economic needs of their diverse workloads with one of the most comprehensive all-flash storage portfolios on the market. The acquisition expands the StorCentric portfolio to now cover all enterprise workload demands.
"Our vision at StorCentric is to offer a complete portfolio of data management technologies that support growing enterprises' needs," commented Mihir Shah, StorCentric CEO. "Violin fits perfectly into our solutions roadmap, a mid-point between our Nexsan and Vexata all-flash offerings. As a prominent name in the all-flash array market, we aim to build on its track record of innovation."
With unbeatable price performance and scale, Violin has moved its storage architecture from a historically proprietary hardware architecture to a software architecture with standard x86 servers and SSDs. This fundamental architectural change accelerates product cycles and significantly reduces the amount of investment needed for new product development, while increasing velocity. Violin's acquisition of X-IO technologies added space efficiency with de-duplication and proactive monitoring. This technology has been integrated into Violin's offerings for over 18 months.
"The acquisition provides Violin customers with streamlined access to a robust portfolio of data management solutions, backed by StorCentric's world-class support organization," said Todd Oseth, Violin Systems President and CEO. "StorCentric's customers will benefit from the availability of Violin's all-flash NVMe product for their demanding performance-critical applications at a highly competitive price point."
StorCentric will continue to invest in Violin's pioneering all-flash technology development with the goal of achieving industry leading product offerings that align with customers' changing needs from traditional workloads, to emerging AI/ML environments, to shifting IT operational models.
