Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust selects Agilisys to deliver data platform

New cloud-based data platform to facilitate the provision of digitally enabled, integrated patient-centred care across Leeds and beyond.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has partnered with Agilisys to deliver a cutting-edge Data Platform Programme that supports the Trust’s ambition to create a digitally-enabled healthcare future.

As one of the largest Trusts in the country, Leeds Teaching Hospitals treats 1.5 million patients every year, including more than 200,000 emergency patients attending A&E. Through this activity, over 50 million pieces of information are created every month. This data is at the heart of the Leeds Digital Way, the Trust’s vision for Digital IT, which is designed to ensure technology improves the day-to-day experience of its patients and staff and supports the delivery of world-class healthcare and research.

The data platform solution will be hosted in the cloud on Microsoft Azure. Technology including Microsoft’s Power BI and Synapse will be utilised to provide Leeds Teaching Hospitals with a highly effective reporting and analytics service, providing up-to-date tools for colleagues across the Trust to use for collaboration and to explore and exploit data.

Agilisys will work in partnership with the Trust to improve the quality of data, whilst establishing and embedding a Data Management Framework that supports the drive towards integrating data into every level of the organisation.

Guy Dickie, Associate Director of Digital at Leeds Teaching Hospitals said “We’re delighted to be working with Agilisys on our new data platform. They have a huge amount of relevant, in depth expertise and experience in our sector, with a passion and drive that will deliver great results.  This is a fantastic opportunity for us to enhance our data analytics capability, harnessing the power of the Trust’s data to develop a state of the art, modern solution which improves care and efficiency, reduces risk and saves money.  Using our existing strong foundations, we have a once in a generation opportunity to revolutionise and scale our use of data.”

Max Jones, Managing Partner for Health at Agilisys added: “This partnership truly excites because it’s about more than just cutting-edge technology…it’s cutting-edge thinking. Together, we’ll harness our collective knowledge, shared values and deep ambition to turn data into a primary asset for making better decisions for patients. Inward investment and clinical research opportunities are also at the heart of our plans, not least because they create additional mechanisms for enhancing clinical outcomes.

“This is a truly visionary partnership that will put Leeds Teaching Hospitals at the forefront of healthcare data excellence and develop skills within the Trust that will ensure on-going success, while also recognising how service continuity and transition is at the heart of the end-user experience.”
