ST Telemedia Global Data Centres launches STT Jakarta 1

PT ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (Indonesia) or PT STT GDC Indonesia, a leading data centre provider, has officially launched its first data centre facility, STT Jakarta 1, in Bekasi, Jawa Barat.

The data centre campus will support up to 72 megawatts of critical IT capacity, with STT Jakarta 1 supporting up to 19.5 MW. The new facility is the first building in the data centre campus developed under a joint venture with leading Indonesian conglomerate Triputra Group and global investment company Temasek.

"Data centres form a vital foundation of a thriving digital economy. STT Jakarta 1 not only provides critical digital infrastructure of the highest global quality, but also offers differentiated solutions to meet the current and future computing needs of both government and enterprises alike. Our strategic market approaches, sustainable initiatives and operational excellence enable customers to optimise their most valuable asset — data — resulting in transformative outcomes in today's dynamic market," said Lionel Yeo, Chief Executive Officer, Southeast Asia, STT GDC.

Indonesia's high level of digitalisation, combined with the introduction of 5G technology, is generating an increase in data generation and traffic. This surge in data requirements has increased demand for data centres in the country. STT Jakarta 1 has been built to support the long-term expansion of Indonesia's digital economy.

Offering industry-leading scalable and resilient data centre services, STT Jakarta 1 has a gross floor area of 18,000 square metres that caters to the varying needs of cloud, technology, banking and finance, content, gaming, e-commerce, and other enterprise customers. It features:

·        A highly secure building perimeter that is reinforced with 24-hour security surveillance, onsite movement tracking and biometric access control.

·        A column-less design in the data hall, optimising the utilisation of white space. This layout enables maximum flexibility in rack placement and density, facilitating efficient use of available space within the data centre.

·        A building design that adheres to SNI1726:2019, ensuring compliance with the most stringent seismic standards. Both the structural and non-structural components are designed with an Importance Factor of 1.50, enhancing the data centre's resilience to seismic events and ensuring uninterrupted operation.

·        Certification to both Uptime Institute’s Tier III certification of design documents and TIA-942 Rated 3 which provides important confidence for government and enterprise users.

·        LEED Gold certification, ensuring the new data centre is amongst the most sustainable data centres in Indonesia.

·        Infrastructure readiness to host the latest compute infrastructure, such as GPUs to support the wave of AI-fuelled demand, including both air and liquid cooling options.

·        A strategic location near the Jakarta-Cikampek highway, providing excellent connectivity to international transportation and logistics routes.

·        STT GDC’s proven global operational standards, which have been developed and perfected over nine years and over 50 colocation data centres globally.

In keeping with STT GDC's global standards of excellence and carbon neutral commitment, STT Jakarta 1 will achieve carbon-neutral operations from the start of its operations.

"Data centres play a vital role in nurturing Indonesia's digital ecosystem, where collaboration among technology and connectivity partners is key. With its cutting-edge infrastructure, secure environment, and scalable solutions, STT Jakarta 1 is uniquely positioned to foster collaboration within the digital ecosystem, empowering organisations to navigate the dynamic digital landscape with agility and confidence. As we further develop the digital ecosystem to establish a robust foundation for innovation and growth, STT Jakarta 1 enables businesses to unlock their full potential and make meaningful contributions to the flourishing digital economy of Indonesia. Supported by a vibrant network of technology partners, we work together towards shared success," said Hendrikus Hendra Gozali, Country Head, Indonesia, PT STT GDC Indonesia.

With the aim of supporting the growth of Indonesia’s digital economy and building a strong ecosystem with local technology and connectivity partners, PT STT GDC Indonesia has also signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) separately with five partners. The first MOU signed with PT Berca Hardayaperkasa, a leading information communication technology company, focuses on jointly exploring managed services to be delivered at STT Jakarta 1.

Additional MOUs were signed with:

PT Integrasi Jaringan Ekosistem (Weave), a connectivity infrastructure company;

PT Lightstorm Indonesia Telekomunikasi (Lightstorm), a carrier-neutral network infrastructure platform;

PT PGAS Telekomunikasi Nusantara, a provider of international and domestic Indonesia fibre optic-based telecommunications networks; and

Pt. Sinergi Inti Andalan Prima Tbk (Sinergy Networks), a telecommunications service company.

Each of these connectivity partners will set up a point-of-presence (PoP) in STT Jakarta 1 to serve the domestic, regional, and international connectivity needs of customers in the data centre campus.
