Saving thousands in downtime costs

Macrium is introducing Reflect X, a significant upgrade to its flagship product.

Launching on 08 October 2024, Reflect X redefines benchmarks for speed and efficiency in system backup and recovery, potentially saving businesses thousands in downtime costs.

At the heart of Reflect X is a performance boost: operations now run significantly faster than previous versions. Macrium reports initial testing has shown remarkable results, with Reflect X restoring an image up to 5x faster than Reflect 8 due to revolutionary compression and backup optimization. You can see the test in action here.

While these results are based on controlled internal tests and may vary in different real-world storage scenarios, they demonstrate the significant performance enhancements achieved with Reflect X.

For downtime-sensitive environments such as Operational Technology and Original Equipment Manufacturers, where every second of downtime translates to substantial costs, this improvement alone represents a significant value proposition.

Dave Joyce, CEO at Macrium, commented on the upcoming release: "With Reflect X, we're not just updating our software; we're resetting the industry standard for backup and recovery. In today's market, where tighter regulations and economic pressures are squeezing businesses from all sides, the tolerance for downtime has hit an all-time low. What was considered acceptable even a few years ago simply doesn't cut it anymore."

Joyce continued, "Every minute of downtime now translates to thousands in lost revenue, potential regulatory penalties, and erosion of customer trust. Businesses need a solution they can rely on to get them back up and running as quickly as possible. That's why Reflect X's enhanced speed isn't just an improvement—it's a game-changer for business continuity."

Reflect X is developed with businesses in mind. Recognizing the increasing focus on key metrics such as Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO), this new solution aims to bridge the gap between current backup and recovery capabilities and evolving industry expectations. Reflect X is designed to help organizations better protect their data and minimize downtime in increasingly complex IT and OT environments.

Joyce added: "We recognize the added pressure on businesses looking to protect their bottom line. As a technology-led company, we believe innovation is key for businesses to keep up with the new standard. Our team has worked very hard to ensure Reflect X does just that."

With more information set to be released about Reflect X over the coming weeks, Macrium has announced a grace period for customers who have recently bought or are looking to buy Reflect prior to the arrival of version X. Further details around upgrade paths for existing customers will be provided on launch, ensuring both new and long-time Macrium users can benefit from Reflect X’s innovative technology as soon as it becomes available.

Customers can expect insights into the advanced technologies powering this new solution, as well as a deeper dive into how Reflect X can revolutionize their backup and recovery processes.

"With Reflect X set to launch on 08 October 2024, we're challenging businesses with complex IT and OT environments to ask themselves a crucial question: Is their current backup solution keeping pace with evolving market demands?” concluded Joyce.
