Nokia collaborates with Zayo to revolutionise network connectivity

Nokia partners with Zayo to deploy cutting-edge IP network architecture, transforming connectivity and expanding digital service offerings.

Nokia has joined forces with Zayo, a key player in global communications infrastructure, to implement a pioneering IP network architecture aimed at enhancing Zayo’s connectivity offerings. This initiative is set to elevate internet speeds and reliability for Zayo’s clientele, alongside providing enhanced services such as cloud access and data centre connectivity via secure high-speed links. This initiative promises to drive productivity and unlock fresh economic opportunities, fostering improved collaboration.

The initial rollout is currently taking place across New York and New Jersey, with plans for expansion into numerous additional markets and thousands of operational buildings soon to follow.

Zayo's expansive fibre network encompasses over 19 million fibre miles and 147,000 route miles, linking 400 markets and more than 1,500 data centres globally. This cutting-edge network design facilitates Zayo's ability to introduce connectivity to emerging markets, thereby bringing more operational buildings into the network swiftly. The deployment empowers Zayo to react promptly to evolving market demands.

The new architecture significantly reduces dependency on single failure points, curtails congestion, and bolsters the consistency and robustness of Zayo’s IP backbone, ensuring the swift delivery of high-capacity infrastructure nearer to its end users.

With Nokia’s innovative IP router solution, Zayo is poised to meet the ever-expanding demand for bandwidth, delivering 400G and 800G-capable services on a large scale. This positions Zayo adeptly for the forthcoming era of cloud and edge computing, enabling customers to access digital services at enhanced speeds.

Nokia's state-of-the-art FP5-based technology, including the 7750 Service Router and 7250 Interconnect Router, forms the backbone of Zayo's new Provider Edge infrastructure. This robust collaboration facilitates the swift deployment of services, boosts reliability, and streamlines operations throughout Zayo’s extensive network.

The joint efforts of Nokia and Zayo underscore a shared ambition to advance connectivity standards and catalyse digital transformation across varying sectors. This partnership positions both companies as frontrunners in initiating groundbreaking change within the digital connectivity landscape.
