Italian startup Xference has introduced its European AI inference infrastructure at the Aruba data centre in Ponte San Pietro. The initiative is part of the company’s development of a distributed network for private AI inference, with an emphasis on data sovereignty and energy efficiency.

Xference was founded in Cagliari in 2025 and focuses on providing AI inference services using open-source models deployed in private environments, with the aim of maintaining user data control.

The company has selected Aruba S.p.A as its technology partner. Aruba’s IT3 data centre in Bergamo provides colocation and Hardware-as-a-Service server solutions to support the infrastructure.

Aruba’s data centre capabilities are designed to support high-density computing requirements, including workloads exceeding 20 kW per rack, which align with the needs of AI infrastructure deployment.

The beta phase of Xference’s infrastructure is available to 100 early adopters for testing and evaluation. The results will inform further development and expansion of the platform, including plans for a distributed edge architecture intended to reduce latency and energy consumption.

The infrastructure is designed to support AI workloads using a model that shifts from fixed capital investment to operational expenditure. The system is intended to operate with a focus on security and sustainability, including the use of renewable energy sources.

The launch represents an early-stage deployment of Xference’s AI inference infrastructure within Europe.
