RF Front-End Modules & Components: a dynamic patent landscape

The Q1 2026 RF Front-End Modules & Components report highlights recent patent activity and developments in innovation trends within the sector.

The RF Front-End Modules & Components industry continues to evolve, as shown in the Q1 2026 patent landscape. KnowMade has introduced an interactive dashboard designed to support tracking and analysis of the competitive intellectual property (IP) environment.

In Q1 2026, there were 621 new patent families and 536 newly granted families. The IP landscape includes 240 active applicants, with established innovators accounting for a significant share of activity. China is noted as the leading geography in patent distribution, reflecting its role in RF-related innovation.

At the technical level, power amplifiers account for 179 new patent families. Other areas such as SAW filters and RF modules also show activity, while BAW filters and multiplexers reflect more developed IP profiles, suggesting a higher level of maturity and consolidation.

Among applicants, RadRock is stated to lead in new publications, followed by Murata and Skyworks. New entrants including Lansus and NSI Corp are also present, showing changes in competitive activity through increases in new patent families.

In terms of granted patents, Murata has increased its output, while organisations such as ROFS Microsystem in China have also strengthened their positions. New entrants such as Rakuten Mobile and Bonsai Systems are included among newer contributors. Activity such as CesiumAstro’s work reflects continued exploration of energy-efficient RF front-end design approaches.

KnowMade’s interactive dashboard is designed to support patent analysis through features such as multi-criteria filtering, market view navigation, and customised exploration tools intended for strategy, R&D, and business development use.

Quarterly updates provide information on new filings and market activity to support monitoring of sector developments. The service is positioned as a tool for organising and analysing patent information within the RF ecosystem.
