Interoute launches first dedicated NetApp cloud storage solution in its pan European Cloud

Interoute offers rapid integration and instant scaling of NetApp storage through its Virtual Data Centre.

Interoute Communications Ltd has extended Interoute Scalable Storage (ISS) to include dedicated NetApp Storage Virtual Machines (SVM) on demand. By integrating the NetApp Storage Virtual Machines (SVM) into Interoute Virtual Data Centre (VDC) customers can securely extend their storage capability into Europe’s largest and most secure elastic cloud. The ISS Dedicated NetApp SVM service allows customers to directly connect in over 150 locations throughout Europe, using Interoute’s unified connectivity MPLS service. This brings enterprises more flexibility to manage their data and application storage needs within a secure yet elastic cloud environment complete with utility billing, instant access and flexible locations to ensure compliance with European data regulations.

A key benefit of ISS is that data ownership and control stays with the customer. The ability to choose which city data is stored in, when it gets moved and when it doesn’t is a founding principle of Interoute Virtual Data Centre.

The dedicated NetApp SVMs are built into Interoute’s five Virtual Data Centre Zones, in Amsterdam, Berlin, Geneva, London and Paris, integrated into the heart of Interoute’s pan European Cloud platform and connected by its high capacity fibre optic network. Customers can select any or all of these data centres for their NetApp dedicated storage location, giving them the visibility and confidence they need to ensure compliance with European data privacy laws.

ISS is available from the Interoute CloudStore, an online application and appliance marketplace integrated with Interoute’s Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Virtual Data Centre. The NetApp cloud storage can be deployed as both a private or public cloud thanks to Interoute’s pan-European MPLS/IP network. Interoute’s network ownership also means customers moving data between NetApp storage units in different Virtual Data Centres can do so, securely and for free, creating geographically dispersed back-up and disaster recovery solutions.

Tim Waldron, NetApp Cloud Solutions Manager EMEA, said: “We’ve experienced growing demand for NetApp storage delivered as a cloud service and Interoute Virtual Data Centre is an excellent platform for our customers to provision NetApp storage in the cloud.”

Matthew Finnie, Chief Technology Officer, Interoute, added: “The issue of data integrity and confidentiality is central to choosing your data strategy. The addition of dedicated NetApp SVMs to Interoute Virtual Data Centre adds market leading secure storage to the utility and flexibility of the cloud. It’s a fantastic addition to the Interoute CloudStore and the Interoute Virtual Data Centre, Europe’s most secure and controllable cloud computing platform.”
