Smartsheet augments AI capabilities with enhanced integrations

Smartsheet extends its AI integrations, offering enterprise teams new capabilities with Smart Assist and wider AI connectivity.

Smartsheet has announced an enhancement to its platform, enabling enterprise teams to connect Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and Google Cloud Gemini Enterprise alongside its existing integrations. The latest addition, Smart Assist, functions as an AI companion designed to support teams working within Smartsheet. The update expands the range of AI tools that can be used with the platform.

Traditional AI connectors often provide access to data but may not incorporate organisational workflows. In response, Smartsheet has developed its MCP Server, using operational data and workflow information collected over two decades to connect AI tools with live work data. According to the company, this approach is intended to provide AI-generated insights based on current work information rather than general summaries. Smart Assist follows the same approach, delivering data from within Smartsheet to support consistency across connected AI platforms.

Since introducing the Smartsheet MCP Server and its initial integration with Claude in March, usage has increased. With new connections to Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and Google Cloud Gemini Enterprise, businesses can perform AI-assisted actions across multiple tools while retaining access to workflow data. Smartsheet reports that 22,000 unique users have executed more than three million AI actions since launch, with nearly one-third of those actions affecting live work outcomes.

Company metrics indicate that more than 860,000 AI actions were recorded during the first ten days of June. Smartsheet also reports that nearly 3,000 additional organisations have begun using the MCP Server since its introduction.

For organisations using Smartsheet, Smart Assist allows users to ask questions or describe tasks and receive responses based on real-time operational data. It is available alongside features such as Smart Columns and AI Dashboard Builder, providing AI-assisted functionality within the platform.

For developers, Smartsheet has introduced CLI Agent Power Tools. The toolkit includes six Claude Code agents designed to work with the MCP Server and is available at no cost.

Smart Assist and Smartsheet MCP Server connections are currently available globally. The new AI connections are available immediately for customers in the United States, with plans to extend availability to customers in the APJ and EMEA regions.
