Telstra Global launches new MPLS PoPs in Europe and America

Telstra Global has increased its global Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network reach in Western Europe and American Midwest with the launch of new Points-of-Presence (PoPs) in Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam and Chicago.

Bernadette Noujaim Baldwin, Telstra Global’s Head of Connectivity and Platforms Portfolio said the addition of these latest sites provide customers with access to more than 1,900 PoPs worldwide across more than 230 countries and territories, including 377 PoPs in Europe and 341 PoPs in the United States (US).

“Directly connected to the Telstra Global MPLS backbone, the new infrastructure addresses increasing customer demand for connectivity into Asia Pacific and will help multinational organisations gain greater competitive advantage in their global operations”, Ms Noujaim Baldwin said.

“Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Paris are key business hubs and the launch of PoPs in these cities brings our total on-net presence to 6 in the European region, which forms an important part of our strategic expansion into Western Europe, enhancing our ability to serve our customers in this region. These will also act as an aggregation point for customers wishing to connect with growth opportunities in Asia Pacific and Australia.”

With the addition of the new Chicago PoP, Telstra Global has further strengthened its existing network footprint across major cities in the US, including Los Angeles, San Jose and New York. “The new Chicago PoP complements our existing PoPs in the US between the West and East coasts, allowing our customers to seamlessly connect across the US, Europe and Asia Pacific.”

“These new PoPs were delivered within four months, which demonstrates our focus and ability to expand rapidly to best support our customers’ requirements for flexibility, reliability and reach in an ever-changing business environment,” Ms Noujaim Baldwin added.

Telstra Global operates one of the largest, most scalable networks in Asia Pacific with most of its network PoPs equipped to provide a full suite of bandwidth and IP services.

Telstra Global’s Network Operations Centre proactively monitors the new PoPs and associated infrastructure via the Customer Control Centre – a unified portal interface designed to enhance communications between Telstra Global and its customers particularly during times of issue resolution and performance management.
