Big Data integration for Amazon Web Services

Syncsort has announced the availability of Ironcluster™ ETL on Amazon Web Services (AWS) for Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) – targeting the legacy ETL and data warehousing market with a cloud-based enterprise grade data integration engine for Amazon EC2 and Amazon Redshift at no additional charge for small instances and at a low price for medium and large instances. This new product delivers fast, highly scalable ETL and is available on AWS Marketplace.

“With this announcement we’re bringing the power and elasticity of AWS to bear in order to disrupt the pricing of the traditional ETL and data warehousing marketplaces,” said Lonne Jaffe, CEO, Syncsort. “Customers are looking to move data workloads from expensive, inefficient legacy systems into low cost Amazon Redshift and Amazon Elastic MapReduce environments, and we’re helping make that transition seamless and secure.”

“Syncsort Ironcluster ETL is an exciting addition to Syncsort’s existing Ironcluster Hadoop ETL lineup on AWS Marketplace,” said Terry Hanold, Vice President, Cloud Commerce, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “The Ironcluster product line delivers speed and performance, both important elements in lowering the cost of processing vast amounts of data in the cloud.”

Ironcluster ETL allows customers to offload data and data workloads from legacy data warehouses, ETL suites and mainframe systems into next-generation systems like Amazon Redshift. It also removes the complexity of data integration, delivering an agile and elastic ETL environment with single-click access via AWS Marketplace, with no hardware to procure or software licenses to buy, further reducing the costs and decreasing processing time.

Users of the new Ironcluster ETL for EC2 can experience up to a 75% reduction in processing time and total cost of ownership when compared to legacy ETL approaches and tools.
Some of the most common use cases for Ironcluster ETL on Amazon EC2 include:
· Support for Amazon Redshift: Ability to load business information into Amazon Redshift data warehouse for reporting and analytics;
· Connectivity for Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3): Capability to easily and efficiently extract log data from Amazon S3 and aggregate log data to provide insights into user behavior on a web site
· Connectivity for Amazon DynamoDB: Providing a simple way to join large data volumes and load them into Amazon DynamoDB to take advantage of its low-cost, high throughput and speed for applications like gaming, ad tech, mobile and many others.

“We needed an easy-to-install and upgrade, high-performance, lightweight ETL product that works well in the cloud on AWS,” said Greg Sokol, Data Warehouse Architect, ModCloth, an early user of the product. “Ironcluster ETL has served as a great product given our requirements and priorities, helping us take full advantage of the cost and efficiency benefits we achieve with cloud computing as part of our data management architecture.”

In addition to free resources and videos for common use cases and a support community, all customers who license Ironcluster ETL on AWS Marketplace are eligible for live support from Syncsort’s team of product experts.
