With fullscreen images, interactive floorplans, 360° virtual tours and an online portal for tenants and landlords, Foxtons website, Foxtons.co.uk, is crucial to its operations. The estate agent has turned to converged infrastructure technology provider Six Degrees Group (6DG) for an intelligent managed hosting environment to support its current and future website requirements.

Foxtons has become well known as an innovative and forward thinking estate agency. As the first point of contact, its website is a crucial part of their customer experience. Foxtons had built an impressive website with highly interactive functionalities but the team knew there was a technological gap between their developments and the ability of the infrastructure supporting the site. The company needed a secure and resilient hosting environment to guarantee optimum performance in an increasingly competitive market.

6DG has deployed a dual-site, highly available and scalable cloud platform capable of supporting the website functions and allowing for future growth. The primary environment consists of the 6DG Cloud Pod, 6DG’s specialist virtual private cloud environment, located in 6DG’s own highly secure, managed datacentre in Birmingham. As it is fully scalable, the private cloud configuration also allows for additional resources (physical and/or virtual) to be added, thereby facilitating either short-term bursting or long-term growth. For added resilience the solution is geo-replicated on 6DG’s private cloud platform in London.

Campbell Williams, Group Strategy and Marketing Director, Six Degrees Group said: “The Foxtons website is vital to its business functionality, as it is the first point of customer engagement when they start a property search. As such Foxtons needs a resilient, high quality cloud to ensure its operations continue to run smoothly and efficiently. By deploying cloud technology, Foxtons leads the way as an estate agency for the future. Working with the 6DG experts give the Foxtons IT team total flexibility, whilst the company continues to grow.“

Leo Lapworth, Web Manager, Foxtons said: “With the constant change and development in the property market it’s important for us to keep ahead of the curve. Having an innovative, interactive website is an important part of what sets Foxtons apart from the rest of the market. For our sellers, landlords, tenants and buyers operating in a hectic market it’s important to be able to manage and find the right properties, as well as having the ability to arrange secure payments online. The team at 6DG understands how important the website is to our business. They have helped us to create a unique hosting platform that can support the website as Foxtons continues to meet the changing needs of the London property market.”
