StorMagic has announced full support for VMware vSphere® 6.0 and new tools to monitor the health of virtualized storage in large, distributed VMware deployments. The StorMagic SvSAN solution helps remote offices and branch offices (ROBO) and small enterprises achieve the lowest ownership costs by providing virtualized shared storage on premises that works with any two-node x86 server configuration and therefore eliminates the need for physical SANs.

The new StorMagic dashboard plugin integrates with the VMware vSphere Web Client to enable users to manage their entire SvSAN multisite storage infrastructure, which could encompass up to 10,000 sites, from a central location. The StorMagic dashboard provides VM server administrators and application owners with a high-level “at-a-glance” health status view of the entire SvSAN virtual SAN environment without requiring specialist storage skills. Issues are ordered by severity, simplifying the identification and accelerating troubleshooting, enabling users to focus their attention on the most critical issues.

Hans O'Sullivan, CEO of StorMagic said: “We launched StorMagic in full partnership with VMware. Adding support for vSphere 6.0 is the latest step in our strategy to deliver highly available, simplified virtualized storage in large, distributed environments to help companies lower costs. The new software integrations for the combined VMware vSphere and StorMagic solution provide powerful server virtualization and on-premises shared storage that can be easily managed without the need for expensive SANs or on-site IT staff.

StorMagic’s SvSAN provides the performance and high-availability benefits of shared storage without the need for expensive external hardware arrays. With SvSAN, growing enterprises and organizations with multiple locations, such as remote or branch offices (ROBOs), can deploy critical applications and associated data onsite so that they are available at all times without needing access to company-wide networks. This is particularly important as disruption at these locations can lead to a loss in service or revenue and damage customer perceptions of the brand. The StorMagic SvSAN ensures high availability by keeping the data and applications local at the site, whileadministering them through a centrally controlled management console.
