Dimension Data establishes dedicated sports practice

Dimension Data set to transform the world of sport through technology.

Dimension Data has launched a Sports Practice dedicated to delivering digital technology solutions to sports organisations around the world. This announcement follows Dimension Data’s recent successful partnership with Amaury Sports Organisation (A.S.O.) as the main technology partner of the Tour de France.
The new Sports Practice is headed up by Adam Foster as Group Executive – Sports Practice.  Foster says the objective of the Sports Practice’s will be to help sports organisations transform the world of sport through the use of digital technology. “With the Tour de France, we revolutionised the viewing experience of millions of cycling fans globally. Our plan is to build on the technology solutions we provided to the Tour and bring even greater levels of innovation to this high-performance sport.”
The Sports Practice will also manage Dimension Data’s Title Partnership with Ryder Cycling, which owns Africa's first professional cycling team to ride in the Tour de France. From 1 January 2016, the Ryder Cycling team’s new name will be Team Dimension Data.
Foster says the Tour de France served as showcase for Dimension Data’s technical capabilities in areas that are transforming the technology landscape. “These include real-time big data analytics, elastic cloud infrastructure, contemporary digital platforms, advanced collaboration technologies, mobility solutions, and agile development practices.
“We also aim to assist other sports organisations in the way we helped A.S.O. The platforms we’ve built for the Tour de France, as well as Dimension Data’s extensive portfolio of solutions and services, give us a strong foothold to move sporting experiences toward becoming increasingly digitised.”
Joe Manuele takes over the role of Dimension Data’s new Group Executive – Communications Business Unit from Foster.  Manuele joins Dimension Data from Avaya and has over 25 years' experience in communications in both the enterprise and global carrier markets.
