Rackspace opens its first data centre in Germany

New facility designed to help customers deal with high data protection regulations in the region.

Rackspace has unveiled its first data centre in the heart of Frankfurt, Germany. In light of EU and Swiss-data protection regulations, the facility will offer customers in DACH new possibilities for a managed IT infrastructure in the centre of Europe.

The new data centre is designed for customers requiring managed private clouds and hosting with a focus on fully managed VMware® environments. The team of 11 local-based Rackspace experts will advise customers on managed cloud services that are looking for support to address the complexity and cost of managing Amazon Web Services® (“AWS”) and Microsoft® Azure®.

"We’re proud to support our rapidly growing German customer base with our new data centre," said Alex F?rst, Vice President of DACH at Rackspace. "This facility allows us to ensure the highest availability, security, performance and optimal management for our customers, all while meeting their privacy requirements through our multi-cloud deployment capabilities."

Having built a strong foundation for Rackspace managed services since the appointment of Alex F?rst as Regional Leader for DACH in late 2016, the data centre marks the next step in Rackspace’s commitment to customers in the region.

"Rackspace’s first data centre in Germany marks another key milestone for our DACH portfolio and reflects our investment in the German market,” added Jeff Cotten, president of Rackspace. “This move allows us to serve our customers in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, as well as the broader European Union (EU), who require their data to be stored in the continent of Europe and within the EU. Rackspace can now provide end-to-end infrastructure and data management services in Germany and the EU with private cloud solutions in our Frankfurt Data Center and public cloud solutions, with our leading public cloud partners like AWS, Google and Microsoft.”
