Kai Data appoints Spencer Lamb as sales and marketing VP

Influential data centre director joins the Kao Data team to energise sales and lead go-to-market strategy.

Kao Data, the home of innovation and the UK’s leading entrant to the wholesale colocation data centre market, has appointed Spencer Lamb to spearhead the company’s growth strategy as Vice President of Sales & Marketing.

Key to the appointment is Spencer’s experience working with scale up businesses and advancing them to revenue generating and profitable concerns. With over 26 years of experience in data centre growth, High Performance Computing (HPC), Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud services and communications infrastructure, he is well placed to both lead the team and execute the new go-to-market strategy, which will drive customer revenue and the continued expansion of the 35MW London campus development.

Paul Finch, Interim CEO and COO, Kao Data commented, “Spencer’s appointment is a significant step towards Kao Data’s customer acquisition strategy.  He has the depth of industry experience and appreciates how our evolving product-set and services differentiate Kao from our peers, delivering a competitive advantage for our customers. He brings mentoring capabilities, which will add a further dimension to our sales and marketing teams. As we continue with the next phase of the campus development, his guidance will be crucial to our plans for the foreseeable future.”

“Kao Data provides customers with the ability to scale quickly at a time where demand for data, resilient power and sustainable, energy efficient data centre space is at an all time high,” said Spencer Lamb, VP Sales and Marketing. “With our abilities to service HPC and AI applications, and close proximity to the UK financial, pharmaceutical and life sciences industries, Kao is one of the most successful and disruptive new companies to join a maturing market. Ultimately, with industry experience across its leadership team that continues to innovate at every turn, I’m delighted to be part of Kao Data’s future.”

Recently, Kao Data signed a customer contract with EMBL-EBI, the international research infrastructure and global leader in the storage analysis and dissemination of large biological data sets. This is a key development in Kao Data’s strategic goal to become the leading provider of compute capability to the UK’s Life Science community, based in the heart of the UK Innovation corridor.
