Green Mountain secures more land for expansion on the west coast of Norway

In an option agreement with Haugaland Business Park, Green Mountain secures 50.000 m2 of land in one of the most modern and sustainable industrial areas in Norway. The agreement enables Green Mountain to realize their construction plans for yet another data center site. The location is ideal in terms of power, connectivity, and infrastructure.

Haugaland Business Park, located in Gismarvik in Tysvær municipality, is one of Norway's largest fully regulated commercial areas of 5,000 acres, prepared with green renewable energy.

Green Mountain has great growth ambitions and Gismarvik is one of the areas they have considered for a long time. It is powered by renewable hydropower and when the new planned power cable is ready in 4-5 years, up to 500 MW of power will be available.

"We have a long-term perspective on this location, but we can still start the first construction phase as early as 2022 with the current power situation. Several international companies have shown interest for this specific site." says Green Mountain CEO, Tor Kristian Gyland.

The growing demand for data storage and especially the interest from international players make Green Mountain continuously look at new areas for further development. Norway's value proposition of renewable energy, low electricity prices, stable framework conditions and good fiber connectivity attract the interest of international companies.

«With the NO-UK cable soon to be realized, this value proposition is further strengthened on the connectivity side. We also see great opportunities to collaborate with other types of industries to be established in the area. Collaboration where the residual heat from the data center can be reused in circular projects is particularly relevant. " says Gyland. The business park’s general manager sees huge potential in establishing new green industries in this region and welcomes Green Mountain to the park.
