NTT DATA UK&I has announced a multi-year extension of its relationship with high-technology and elite motorsport company McLaren Group.

This new contract will see NTT DATA continue to support and modernise McLaren's core enterprise IT systems, with a particular focus on critical business systems.

Due to McLaren's varied requirements across its core businesses, the IT department must deliver a robust and adaptable service able to cope with business demands.

The relationship between McLaren Group and NTT DATA started as a small Customer Relationship Management engagement but has since grown to one where 70 per cent of enterprise IT tools and systems are in some way being supported or developed by NTT DATA.

McLaren’s fast-paced business environment has evolved greatly over the past three years, and NTT DATA has been working with the management team to modernise and adapt to the business needs.

“We are pleased to be extending our long-standing relationship with one of the world’s most iconic brands in McLaren Group,” commented Nick Smith, Head of Manufacturing, Automotive and Life Sciences, at NTT DATA UK&I. “McLaren’s diverse and innovative businesses which touch over 40 countries around the world require a wide range of technology to support its critical IT enterprise solutions. We are proud to play an essential role in allowing McLaren to innovate at fast pace.”

NTT DATA has over 45 years of working closely with automotive manufacturers, as well as links to racing via its IndyCar sponsorship.

As a result of NTT DATA’s automotive expertise and technological breadth, McLaren now has a flexible, secure, and cost-effective IT function that is in a better position to adapt to changing business requirements in the future.

Chris Hicks, Chief Information Officer, McLaren Group said: “Innovation is the highest priority at McLaren – it is what drives our business forward across the Group. It is for this reason that we have chosen to extend our close working relationship with NTT DATA. With our mission-critical applications and IT infrastructure supported and maintained by NTT DATA’s expert team, we have the dexterity to support innovation in every corner of our businesses.”
