Pioneering next-level data centre cooling

Mansfield Pollard and BladeRoom Data Centres unite to revolutionise cooling in data centres through innovation and sustainable practices.

Mansfield Pollard and BladeRoom Data Centres have officially announced a strategic partnership poised to transform cooling systems for data centres in the UK and around the world. This alliance leverages a rich 15 years of collaboration, aiming to deliver industry-leading cooling solutions for the rapidly expanding data centre market.

The partnership will strengthen research and development efforts, particularly focusing on advanced air and chilled water-based cooling technologies. These innovative solutions are crucial for accommodating the growing demand driven by AI and high-performance computing applications, ensuring compatibility with both new and existing infrastructures.

Significant progress has already been achieved, with 210MW of IT cooling delivered so far, and more systems under development. The customized solutions are designed to be future-ready, integrating cutting-edge technologies that cater to evolving computational needs while supporting legacy systems. Sustainability and efficiency are at the heart of these advancements.

As data centre cooling requirements escalate due to evolving chipsets and processing demands, the partnership will focus on hybrid system architectures. Combining air and liquid cooling strengths, these designs will enable seamless integration into both brand-new and existing facilities, supporting retrofitting strategies that extend data centre life cycles.

The systems, engineered collaboratively by Mansfield Pollard and BladeRoom, promise not only to meet increasing thermal demands but also prioritize sustainability, resilience, and operational efficacy.

Louise Ellis-Frankland, Chief Executive of Mansfield Pollard, emphasized the aligned values and long-standing relationship between the two firms, particularly in sustainability and innovation. She highlighted the synergy between Mansfield Pollard's custom energy-efficient air management solutions and BladeRoom's low-energy data centre infrastructure.

Will Thornton, Chief Executive of BladeRoom Data Centres, praised the collaboration, saying "As a company that prides itself on delivering low-energy, high-efficiency data centre infrastructure solutions at any scale, our partnership with Mansfield Pollard adds a whole new dimension to what we can offer our clients. Their innovative technologies align seamlessly with our commitment to dramatically reduce energy consumption and build the world’s most efficient, sustainable, and operationally superior data centres."

Edward Dusting, Head of Sales at BladeRoom, added that the collaboration also tackles retrofitting initiatives for existing facilities. The goal is to integrate state-of-the-art, energy-efficient cooling solutions, ensuring data centres like those developed for Ark Data Centres achieve peak performance and are ready for future AI advancements.
