DE-CIX, the globally renowned Internet Exchange operator, has officially introduced the inaugural AWS Cloud On-Ramp at DE-CIX Istanbul. This development extends a new horizon for enterprises and network operators in Türkiye and surrounding areas, paving the way for direct, secure, and robust access to Amazon Web Services (AWS).
This locally established AWS Cloud On-Ramp allows customers of DE-CIX Istanbul to enjoy considerably reduced latency compared to alternative routes through distant hubs like Frankfurt. This localised cloud access not only optimises application performance but also minimises data transfer costs, delivering a more productive and economically efficient cloud connectivity experience.
Berrin Özselçuk, AWS Türkiye General Manager highlights, “The AWS Cloud On-Ramp provides the shortest path to access your AWS resources. By transferring data over AWS’s global network, it not only reduces latency but also enhances processing performance and lowers the cost of building and operating networks. Furthermore, it secures your data with a variety of encryption options. We’re excited that AWS users in Türkiye will also be able to benefit from these benefits thanks to DE-CIX’s opening of the first AWS Cloud On-Ramp in Istanbul.”
The AWS Cloud On-Ramp in Istanbul mirrors the high-quality features prevalent at other DE-CIX locations. These include high-bandwidth connectivity, secure data transfers on a large scale, and seamless integration with hybrid cloud environments. This infrastructure supports artificial intelligence workloads while ensuring regulatory compliance. Such attributes make the service particularly suitable for data-heavy applications within regulated sectors.
On the 30th of July 2025, DE-CIX Istanbul hit a landmark with peak throughput of over 500 Gbit/s, more than tripling volumes registered in 2020. Over the last ten years Istanbul, DE-CIX has solidified its status as a pivotal player in the region's digital transformation. By offering unparalleled interconnection services, DE-CIX Istanbul serves as a bridging powerhouse between Europe and the Middle East. The preceding year observed an 18.5% rise in connected networks, accentuating its status and commitment to regional expertise.
