In a significant move towards sustainable energy consumption, Data4, a leading European data centre operator, has signed a twelve-year Nuclear Production Allocation Contract (CAPN) with EDF. This partnership demonstrates Data4's commitment to a decarbonised and competitive electricity supply across their infrastructure in France, making them the first data centre operator in the country to enter into such an agreement with EDF.
The contract seals Data4's allocation of 40 MW from EDF’s operational nuclear fleet over a 12-year span, incorporating a mechanism to share costs and risks based on produced volumes. Initial deliveries are expected to commence in 2026, with yearly delivery estimates around 230 GWh.
This agreement complements Data4's existing long-term power purchase agreements for solar and wind energy. Together, they assure a sustainable electricity supply that significantly aids in reducing the company’s carbon emissions and fulfils its environmental objectives.
The partnership ensures Data4 not only a consistent and predictable energy cost but also stability in an ever-evolving energy market. The contract's duration permits the French operator to secure a competitive energy supply and confidently forge ahead with future investments.
With this initiative, Data4 reinforces its commitment to operations that meet both customer expectations and climate imperatives. As part of a broader strategy incorporating low-carbon and renewable energy solutions across its operations, this venture is essential in light of increased demands from the digital economy and the burgeoning field of artificial intelligence.

Similarly, Marc Benayoun noted the importance of this deal in providing Data4 with a competitive and reliable electricity supply, aligning with EDF’s objectives of supporting data centre development and contributing to energy and industrial sovereignty in France.
